Name: It gets its name from the triangle shape of the leaf bases.

Origin: It is native to Madagascar.

Growth rate: Moderately fast

Trunk: The Triangle palm has a solitary, rough, dark-grey or brown trunk, covered with leaf bases and shaped like a triangle. It grows up to 15-30 feet in height and up to 1.5 feet in diameter.

Leaves: The leaves are long, up to 10 feet in length, arching almost upright, pinnate, bluish-green in color. They emerge from the top of the trunk.

Indoor/Outdoor Use: Both

Maintenance: Low

Light exposure: It thrives in full sun.

Water requirements: Regular watering. Avoid overwatering.

Drought toleration: Fairly drought resistant.

Cold toleration: It is cold hardy to below freezing temperatures.

Flowers: Inflorescences are up to 4 feet in length, yellow to green in color. Flowers come from the lower leaves.

Fruits: The Triangle palm bears round, black, inedible  fruits.

Propagation: It is propagated from seed. Germination occurs in 1 month.
