Majesty PalmThe Majesty Palm is one of the most popular Florida palm trees. It looks very similar to the Queen Palm. The Majesty palm can be planted alone or in groups with other tall palms. 

The elegant plant is widely cultivated in areas with subtropical climate. Ravenea Rivularis has become a popular container plant for indoor and outdoor for its beauty and fast growth. The Majesty palm  grows best outdoor because needs sun and humidity. It easily yellows  inside.

Origin: It is native to Madagascar. Naturally it grows well in rainforests and swampy areas.

Growth rate: It is fast growing at early age, after its trunk is established,  Ravenea Rivularis grows slower.

Trunk: The smooth, flared, swolen at base and  gradually tapering upward, grey trunk grows up to 50 feet and about 12 feet in diameter.

Leaves: The leaves are feather-shaped, gracefully arching, lush and mid-green in color.

Indoor/Outdoor Use: Both, mostly outside.

Maintenance: High. It has to be watered regularly. Ravenea Rivularis has a lot of needs for nutrition and fertilizer. If it yellows, probably it doesn’t have enough magnesium. The leaves are required to be washed regularly to keep them looking nice and fresh.

Light exposure: It grows best in full sun or light shade.

Water requirements: The palm needs plenty of water. The soil should be always wet. It likes warm water.

Drought toleration: It is not drought tolerant. If the palm dries out, it will die.

Cold toleration: It can take some frost with no damage. Minimum  temperature for this tree shoud not be lower than 28 F.

Flowers: The inflorescence is short, borne come among the leaves. The flowers are pale yellow.

Fruits: The Majesty palms produce round, red fruits.

Propagation: It is propagated from seed. Germination occurs in 2-3 months.
