Areca Palm : Chrysalidocarpus Lutescens
The Areca Palm is one of the most graceful and beautiful Florida Palm Trees. It can grow everywhere around the world in sub-tropical and tropical climates.
The Areca is also a very popular indoor plant that can bring tropics and create a lush house decor. The exotic palm is not only beautiful decoration, it is also an excellent air purifier. It removes acetone, methyl and ethyl from the air.

Name: The long, feather, yellow-green fronds fan out from several trunks and create a butterfly look.
Trunk: The stems are ringed, 3 to 5 inch in diameter, gently arching and silver-green in color. They are very similar in appearance to the Bamboo. The stems can grow up to 10-25 feet tall.
Leaves: Each trunk has 6 to 8 plumose leaves. The leaves are about 2-4 feet long.

Maintenance: Moderate
Light exposure: This tree likes medium to high lighting. Too much sun yellows the leaves. Without enough light trees can lose all their lower fronds. Semi-sun places are perfect for them.
Water requirements: It likes water. The plant should not be too dry or over-watered, it is prone to root rot.
Cold toleration: Areca palms can take temperatures down to 20 F.
Drought toleration: The palm is drought tolerant.
Flowers: The stalks of small yellowish white flowers come from below the leaves. The Areca palm is monoecious, male and female flowers are on same inflorescence.
Fruits: The fruits are oval and yellow-orange in color.
Propagation: It is easily propagated from seed. Seeds are oval and dark red. The germination occurs in 1-3 months.
